Congrats. Keep on practicing and you'll even get better so next time you might be able to win that final. Good job.

i used to be okay at table tennis, got beaten by some french number 1 who served and the ball actually returned itself before i could hit it (that much spin arghghghg!) can you do that? was very impressive, ie a full power serve that hits the table my side and actually spun back to his side making it impossible for me to return , best i can do is get it to hit and spin off at crazy angles which is always fun

What you are talking of is a heavy backspin serve. That is a bit above my level at the moment since im in school only But i can put enough backspin on the ball so that it just passes over the net and then goes off the table

Keep improving on the mixed doubles, that's very important.

ah yeah i can put spin on it so it goes off the table with backspin and normally dodges opponents bat, but thats quite easy, can learn that in 30 mins, theres no way i can do that heavy backspin thing though, surely someone using that could beat anyone on his serve? it was impossible for me to return it as im now allowed to touch the table with my body far as i know so i cant lean in near enough (serve skimmed the net dropped about 5 inches from the net on my side then bounced back over) he only did it to me twice but beat me 21-3 i was amazed i got 3 points off him! never even seen a pro player manage that shot before
