How do you kill a greater werewolf? I hit it for about 30 min, but it is still uninjured. Sometimes it gets injured, but then when I check again it is uninjured again!! I thought it had something to do with that when it hits me it regains life, but that doesn't seem to be it. I once tried to keep it in distance with sleep and entangle and web and just blast it with arrows, axes and magic. It worked for a while and it got injured, but then when I checked again....uninjured!!!! After that I tried poison (some of the liches I have fought have fallen with poison), but that doesn't work either.
How do you kill this beast??? Man, it is so good I think I will have Cernd in my party. |

Hi,
Greater Werewolves are tough customers, and I believe you need +3 weopons to even hurt them. They are like Trolls in that they regenerate, so it you are not doing enough damage they will keep healing until uninjured. Personally I would pass on Cernd. Yes as a GW he does excellent damage when he manages to hit, which isn't often. Unlike GW who have excellent THACO's, Cernd's ToHit totally sux, so he doesn't hit very often. His other major deficiency is that unlike GW who have excellent AC and good HP's, Cernd's ArmorClass sux big time and he has low HitPoints. So unlike GW's who are hard to hit and damage, Cernd gets hit alot, and takes alot of damage, often too much. Cernd does not benefit from the GW regeneration ability during combat either. He has regenerative ability when his staff is equipped, of course he can't equip his staff when transformed, which often leaves you in a position of trying unsuccessfully to get him out of combat so that you can heal him before he croaks. I know some people like Cernd, and I have nothing against him myself, but once I had Jaheira wint the battle with the Druid queen freeing the grove, I took Cernd to find his son and let him go to raise him. |

I made a ring which lets you change into Greater WolfWere (Not Greater werewolf)
and into Mind Flayer. It was so much fun killing everything in those forms! |

It regenerates too fast. I have Jaheira as a bear doing 30-50 damage/round and Anomen doing 15-30 and korgan doing 20-40 and my undead hunter doing 30-50 and a lot of gnolls to aid me and an air-elemental to take the hits. This isn't enough!! It gets injured at the most, but then one second after it is uninjured again!!! I try all the spells I can come up with, which doesn't hurt this beast very much. I lower the beast's magic resistance but still, not much damage with my spells. Why is there so much difference between a greater wolfere and just a regular wolfwere??? The regular wolfwere you kill within a second. What should I do?? It seems immune to backstab too because I never hit it with my thief or Valygar.
By the way, I have a lot of trouble with another beast which also is impossible to kill...the Iron golem!! The Iron golem is immune to all weapons and spells, and still people say you can kill it? I have some +3 weapons and a +5 weapon *(the sling). |

Aahh, that explains alot. 4hp a second is very hard to beat. Just how many seconds is a round?? Maybe it gets easier killing it if I play on the easiest level. Thanks alot for the help.

Fortunately I have the Vorpal Blade, an awesome 2HS. I killed Firkraag on the first hit, the Shadow Dragon on the second hit. Beholders, Illithid, Iron and Adamantine Golems, no problem. Get your hands on the blade and hilt of the silver sword, take them to Cromwell and have him make the Vorpal Blade for you. You won't regret it.

Very strange, I met the greater wolfwere yesterday and he went down in mere seconds. I had read a similar thread before and when I saw him I thought "Here comes trouble" but he went down really quick.

Since I only specialise in magic - all of my help need mages of some sort. Like Jon said, the greater wolfwere go down like SPLAT!! () with a good breaching and a finger of death. If you cast time stop, then breach all the greater wolfweres on your screen - then stop time again and cast finger of death at them all:
Equation = lots of experience and satisfaction............PHEW!!! BTW another Time Stop trick is to casts loads of abi dalzims and get a couple of powerful tanks to finish the job. 30 MINUTES!!!! Blimey, I could make a cuppa tea during that kinda time - did you really sit there for that long? |
