O.K so i choose a paladin cavalier.

But my mate told me you turn into a big demon some time through the game. Will this make me a fallen paladin or is it irrelavent.

Nope, not at all.
It's a special ability that you gain in Chapter 4 (it is not good).

If you can buy the points back at a temple whats the problem?

If i choose a paladin is their any chance of having korgan,edwin or vicconia in my party?

you can have them but if you act paladinly, (ie lawful good) by the time you get to a rep of 20 (not hard i'm still in act 2 and haved recieved anough rep +1's to put me at a 24 rep if the game went that high) they will leave your party, also the higher your rep is the harder it is to pick them up after your initial meeting with them

Played a LG pally all through bg2, and viconia always enjoyed my presence. Although Korgan left, steamheaded dwarf that he is, he's a damn good melee, but minsc picked up the slack.

Never did use edwin, that voice just tore at me
