Well, do you have non-stick coating on your pan? There is a possibility that the cookware started to wear and whatever flaked may have caused a chemical reaction to both the eggs and oil. Just depends. The cheaper cookware does that. I've only had it happen once so far. Not too long after that, the rest of the coating starts to warp. I just toss it when that happens. Usually happens with aluminum sets and not the steel for some reason.
