Seriously (okey no not really ) , it seems every thread I make is doomed for the dreaded second page usually the next day after I make it with about 10% being over 2 pages long. In all my time here I think I have had 1 thread that went over 100 posts.
Could it be because my keyboard turned green last week when I was frying it?? Is my monitor trying to kill me?

What is the secret to the ultimate thread... and what would the ultimate thread be?

p.s. I'm drunk so if this thread makes no sense then that would explain it

Jorath, congrats on being drunk, cheers man! You are actually one of my favorite most interesting Ironworkers, I don't know why your threads don't last. So what are you drinking? That could be a topic of conversation right there LOL.

My threads don't last very long Jorath, so don't worry. But I am sure that one day you will have the most interesting thread on IW.
So, yes, what are you drinking?

Exactly!
Dude, don't worry about how long you can draw a conversation out. Focus more on whether anything good is actually being said Some people can say more in a couple of sentences than others who write an entire book.... well, that's probably bollocks, but you get what I mean

Just post a topic that's really funny or really controversial (I don't know; nominate Michael Moore as a saint, or something)

I've noticed that a lot of topics eventually morph into something else entirely (witness Stormy's blue eggs). If you want to be cheesy, you could always switch topics in the midst of your thread to get more discussion and repeat posters.

I know of one. Avoid attracting any thread-killers, such as myself.
