It's out of production. I'm sad. I'll have to buy 9600Pro now, and I wanted to have a 102% 9700Pro with the 9500Pro. Aaahh...
Any alternatives on other cards, sources or suggestions on the 9600Pro?

My suggestion is wait until the end of the year... I would not be surprised to see several hot cards released around the same time that Doom III and Half Life 2 come out. Card mfgrs. know there will be a push to upgrade caused by those games.

Why would having a 9500 pro give you a 102% 9700 Pro? Unless of course you're refering to modding the card (this only worked with older boards though). The 9600 Pro is substantially slower than the 9500 pro, so I understand your disappointment, but I've heard that they have huge overclocking potential. If I was to choose a replacement for the 9500 pro though (in terms of performance and budget), I'd suggest a Geforce FX 5600 Ultra.

I've never understood this logic. There is no right time to upgrade, since whatever you buy is bound to be inferior within 6 months to 1 year anyway, and while you are posponing your upgrade waiting for something better to come out, others are currently enjoying what's already out.

Just my 2 Euros

[/QUOTE]Normally I'd agree but this is a special case, there's not one but TWO super-hot games coming at the end of the year or early next year (if they hit their release dates), and both are going to be demanding, and both have rabid fans that will do ANYTHING to play em. This is an opportunity for card mfgrs. to cash in on the bubble of demand that will be created when these boards are released. I expect to see both ATI and NVidia release at least upgraded hardware coinciding with D3 and HL2 releases. Along with new TOL boards you'll see the standard price drops in the rest of thier lines. Couple this with the fact that right now there are no games that are stressing high end boards and I see no overwhelming reason to upgrade now and risk having to run Doom 3 at other than 1600x1200 with max'd graphics quality. Heck, my GF3 class board still runs everything out there without major problems (reduced res. on a couple games, but 1024x768 isn't so horrible)
