Is their ANY purpose of having armor between studded leather and platemail? What classes can't wear any armor greater then chainmail, instead of studded leather. It seems that all mail, no matter how upgraded, isn't as good as platemail you find on dead people later in the game.

I think that the bard can use cainmail but not plate mail.

And let's not forget the elven chainmails that lets you cast spells. For bards and figter/mages.

Also, for characters who havent got enough strength to wear plate mail. Like Viconia IIRC

game mechanics-wise barbarians can wear any armour short of plate mail

from a roleplaying point of view some people might object to the idea that their characters, travel through the wilderness, sit in bars and go shopping wearing full medieval style field plate armour including helmet - not that i've ever worried about that myself

Bjorn-That's why Viconia should always have Crom Fayr
Armen-Good point. But since your the son of Bhaal, I mean, the least you could do it at least carry bloody platemail.

If your main character is a platemail wearing tank (the only true kind), then get him to have the belt, and ditch Korgan.

(Hmm, a chance to nitpick..) What if I'm the sorceress daughter of Bhaal and shudder to think of cumbersome platemail?
That's what I like about mage robes. It's acceptable to hardly ever take them off.

I wonder if they stay clean by magical means. As far as I can tell, there is not a single laundry in all of Faerun, and I just can't see Edwin (or the child of Bhaal) laundering the Robe of Vecna in an oak tub. Maybe Aerie, but not Edwin.

Elven chainmail alone is so useful (and you can get it quite early in the game) that it would justify the category all by itself.

Magic cleans it automatically ,this was in one of the DL books. All you did was say a word and the robes would clean themselves.

Wouldn't something like that be useful in real life. Say a word and all your clothes clean themselves.

It would save the bother of laundry i tells ya!
