But not to the extent that it was origionally introduced.

Simply put, It will begin on the second Sunday of March, which is three weeks earlier, and end on the first sunday of November, which is one week later. This gives another month to daylight in those months.

This has its good sides, but anyone that constantly flies international will have to realize that they will be getting used to a new time difference in those four weeks of change. International meetings with whoever will have to be considered. Also, not all of the US abides by the Daylight Savings Time, because they do not need it. It is not used in Arizona and Hawaii, that I know of. I am not aware of any other states. So some domestic problems are sure to surface until everybody can break into the new schedule.

Yeah, I know EXACTLY what you mean, as my sister is marrying a polynesian and will be living in Hawaii. I have yet to figure out the "old" schedule, and now have to worry about the extension. One time, she called me at 4am because she forgot the hour difference! I was so mad.

So an hour plus or minus would've been just fine?

Indiana has always been the third state that refused to observe Daylight Savings Time, but that'll change on 2nd April 2006 (or now, I suppose, whenever everyone else changes).

Why don't they just make it last all year, if it's so good.

Why doesn't the great Republic of Texas just make like Arizona & ignore it, Attalus?

It always bothered me that Indiana could be more independent than Texas ...

And now Canada's gonna go and change as well, most likely. What's the reasoning behind Daylight Savings anyways?

I have a better idea. Just scrap daylight savings altogether. What purpose does it serve? Agricultural? Farmers can just learn to set their alarms ealier instead of getting up the entire 1/3 of a nation 1 hour earlier, can't they? I mean, just cuz you change a clock doesn't change what time it actually is.

Its all about the oil. They have figured the savings. And now we get to change our times around.

You're right it is about oil, but not as you think. Ben Franklin came up with the idea to save on whale oil used in lamps. By extending the human activities to use the longer daylight hours of summer one wouldn't need as much oil for lamps. So blame Ol' Ben.
