Problems copying saved games between computers

I have Baldur's Gate II on both my home computer and my laptop. I'm going on the road, and wanted to take my existing game from my home computer and transfer it to my laptop in order to play it while on the road (rather than start over)

I copied the folder (and all files contained therein) of the saved game to my laptop. I started BGII on my laptop, chose to load a single player game, and the saved game was there. As soon as I selected that saved game, however, the game completely locked up.

Am I missing something? Are there other files that need to be transferred over, or some other trick to making a saved game from one computer work on another?

i'm not completely sure, but i think you prolly needed to export your main char to the character file and copied that over too.

that's the only thing i can think of....unless you accidentally left out one of the files from your savegame folder. there's usually 4 non-character files in it, and then one bmp file for each character. mine are full, so i have 10 files in mine.

the install of the game on you lapper is the same as the one on your desktop, correct? and your lapper has all updated drivers, both sound and visual?

Are you using the same versions of the game, meaning is one patched and one not? Did you have any custom items? Custom scripts? Did you do a full install on your laptop? Any info would help, even the specifics on both computers.
