While fighting in the bandit camp I lost 3 characters (tough battle), after the battle I went to see Gellena to have her 'Raise Dead'. I then returned to the scene of the battle in hopes of recovering the characters' items but they were all gone. Even some of the enemies that I killed were no longer there, nor were their items (this was the final battle in the bandit camp in the hut where Ender Sai is). Does this always happen? Is there a way to prevent it from happening? I wasn't able to carry all their stuff with me.

Sadly enough, Baldurs gate lives on the principal, "If you leave that set of Chainmail +5 in the open, someone's going to take it."

Sadly, it is gone. for good.

The best advice I can give you is to reload.

And for your topic subjext/question, their are no death/ressurection items in BG I.

For future reference, when this happens you can move items to a container(chest, barrel, etc.) and leave the area, and return, and the items will still be in the container.

Sound advice ElfBane. Adamo you would do well to listen.

I myself leave the NPC dead as I play 1 life per Char. I find myself with a healer with ranged weapons to stay clear of direct combat so he/she can help kill as well as heal. Plus I buy alot of heal potions. I know you can raise dead but if you play like you can't the game is more of a challenge and fun. I know not everyone plays this way and thats what makes it a RPG. Have fun!

Your welcome. Remember, if at any time you need help, as here. Don't consult strategy guides. We will be less prone to spoiling things
