I believe that the US is currently pressuring the European country's sign a treaty which will make it easier to extradite European criminals to the US (where according to many sources, they will not get a fair trial). But at the same time, the US has a law that allows them to invade The Hague when Americans are being held there. On another note; I wonder on who's side Poland really is. Especially after obtaining millions of Euro's in aid from The Union.

Are you saying Poland should act a certain way regarding the policies supported by the EU just because they've been given aid by the EU? You think they should be "on your side" because you're giving them millions in aid? Should the money or other aid you give them "buy" their support on any issue?

Since that is exactly the type thing this thread is complaining about... welcome to the dark side.

MagiK, shysters can't sue at the ICC -- at least not those who aren't government shysters.

It is not "curious" that the US doesn't want to sign the ICC. Like the Convention on Climate Change, the one on Human Rights, and others our government wants to do it its own way and no other. Some approve of this, some disapprove (like yours truly), but it is the trend.

Side note: If other countries didn't come clamouring to us for aid, this would be a non-issue. In effect the article whines that the US is threatening to end its bribe. Well, that's exactly what bribes are for -- to make someone do what you want them to. Quid pro quo.

(Hmm... wonder if I just stumbled upon the origin of the slang "quid" for British pounds? )
Poland will soon be a member of the European Union, therefor it would be a nice gesture if they were to support EU policy.
