Thought I'd ask first because I don't have whole days to figure things out and I'd hate it if it turns out to be bad or impossible.

Havent done it myself, but it is listed in the compatible games list.
http://frankscorner.org/index.php?p= Damn. OK, BG1 is. Since BG2s engine is an update of that one, it should work fine as well. Turn on the software blits in the config, cant remember where they are but dig around, and create those blank movie bifs and it should be fine. It might also be an idea to run it in software mode rather than 3d accelerated. |

Great site! Now that doesn't look too hard. I'll try BG1 with that notes first and then I should have gotten the hang of how wine works.

As if it knows I've got better things to do than install games I need to unmount the CD to change it and that doesn't work, it gives me the usual device is busy message both as root and as user. But I'm sure there's a way to override this and just umount it anyway.
edit: Found! umount -l works wonders while testing so I hope it won't let me down when installing [ 12-05-2004, 11:29 AM: Message edited by: philip ] |

Baldur's Gate 1 works fine now. But BG2 doesn't seem to work . I get some errors in wine and I can't find any solution on google so I asked on a linux forum but I think it won't work from a linux partition. I'll try later if it works if I install it on my windows partition and link it to linux.

Just out of interest, which errors does it give?

Unknown exception handled at thread 0012 (or something like this. I can't remember the exact thing but I'm sure about thread 0012 and that the other words were in it)
I don't have any debugger installed and according to the info that's not something a normal user would have installed or able to use it easy. Says something about the wine developer's guide. |
