Hi all, you oldies may remember my old language thread, but since it has died, I am going to start a new one. This is going to be, I hope a place to practice using your second/third languages etc and hopefully to get help from some native speakers. I am going to give some links to language tutorials on the net, (see below) to hopefully spark sopme interest. I also promise to not use machine translators this time, as they suck

German Tutorial
http://www.germanways.com/tutorial1.1.htm
Dutch Tutorial
http://www.find.com.au/tutorials/spokenlanguages/dutch/
Swedish Tutorial
http://www.people.fas.harvard.edu/~arubin/swedish.html

Will add anymore I find, feel free to add any yourselves too,

Sir Tainly

Good to see you start this topic again, SirTainly, thanks!!
The discussions of interesting/funny phenomena in languages that we had in the previous threads were quite good too, maybe we can have some more of those...also we could continue checking to what extent our languages have the same roots and other similarities. For example (this one's for Cloudy, who probably knows this), there are a few words in Russian derived from Dutch, most of them nautical terms. This is due to the fact that Czar Peter visited Holland (Zaandam, to be precise, which is the town near the place I grew up in) and learned a lot here about our shipcraft and related things.

Just make sure you can order a beer and swear like a tropper and you won't go wrong Seriously if you need help, there are several native French speakers around, and they may be able to help. If they are all busy, I might be able to help, although I'm trying to relearn my French having not used it for 6 or so years.
