SoU problem

Hello all. Having a technical problem with SoU. Its my second time going through it and I am just finishing meeting Heurodis for first time (before the whole being turned to stone, etc). The computer just seems to slow down and get bogged down between all the cut scenes, dialog, etc. I am running the most recent version on XP. Never had any problems with this game before. Eventually it will just get tired of trying to load the game (getting me back to where I need to kill the shield guardians for the slave trader) and just lock up and shut down. I think I have turned down all the graphics to as low as they go. What to do now? Thanks a lot.

Hmm, well Ill try. What version of NWN are you running? What videocard do you have? What DX version, did you try doing things in this thread?

Video card - ATI Radeon 9800, DirectX 9.0c, 1.65 NWN. I've updated the drivers for the video card, done the windows update thing. It seemed like it ran smoother but then still locks up. Starts having problems when Ashtara is talking to me. Really frustrating. I tried to "update" within the game and it said no update available. Grrrrr. . .

Is it only when talking to a specific NPC (Ash in this case) or are you just using that as an example? Can you play normally, and it just locks up when you talk to the NPC?

I know it happened to me too. You need a hotfix for windows...lemme see....

Go to Bioware's page and look up HOTFIX in the SOU forums!

Shadowolf, what do I do with the hotfix when I download/extract it? I can't run it. Should I put it somewhere within the NWN folder? Thanks a lot.

This is a notoriously BIG problem with the latest version from NWN. I had the same issues. Go over to Bioware and you'll see what I mean. It isn't your drivers, it isn't your video card, it isn't your installation. No, it all comes down to the 1.65 version.

Yeah, they talk about this hotfix but again, what do I do with it? I have it downloaded and extracted but not sure from there what to do with it? Thanks everyone for your help
