If possible, I will never buy anything NOT american. Chevy/GM however is a nightmare. Its the worst cars my family have ever owned. My first choice is Dodge, my second is Ford. This is what I drive now. The only Jap/asian made vehicle I really want to own is my motorcycle (Honda). Occasionally I can't find what I want when looking, and consider foreign, but then Dodge comes out with something that will do and I go back. I can fix these american cars, and cheap, but parts for asian cars are too expensive.

Once you go German, you can't go back.

That's very true: once you have gone German, you have to go "zurück" instead.

I am on my second Chevy Suburban. Starter problems and a flat are the only problems I have had. *Knocks wood quickly*

I´ve always wondered would it be possible to put an american car, but the maintenance options are so very limited for everything else except Ford.

Renault, Audi and BMW are my nominates for the best car brands. Sport & Luxury cars aren´t counted (just because I haven´t driven nor can afford any).

Toyota really has a good price/value -ratio. I drive a -92 corolla myself, and it hasn´t given up yet. But for japanese cars, the panels aren´t always durable.

On topic for a change (to the better?): Here in Germany at least all studies and statistics I have seen over the past 2 decades or so have always shown that the top Japanese brands like Toyota, Honda and Nissan are superior when it comes to reliability even to the much more expensive German "premium brands" Mercedes, BMW and Audi.
