The problem is, and this is where attacks against Bush fail, is that he doesn't *control* science...
Far too much credit is layed at the President's feet, good and bad, and far too much power is believed to be in his hands, by and large. This was only true recently.

Speaking of (hidden? lol) agendas, check out this rather indignant version of the same (February) story.
http://www.foxnews.com/story/0,2933,111802,00.html and a relatively unrelated note: Quoted by MagiK: Quote:
http://www.popular-science.net/news/concerned.html And as for spending, flaws in current and possible (with Kerry) spending plans are detailed in this Discover article: http://www.discover.com/issues/oct-0...ry-on-science/ and our very own Iron Works CE forum (same thing): http://www.ironworksforum.com/ubb/no...;f=27;t=001412 The spending is heavily skewed towards military and domestic security research. You're right 'on the money' in that the article also poses the question of where the money is coming from in Kerry's plan, but I consider current scientific spending skewed the way it is unacceptable. I would take just about any medical or ecological scientific advance over a successful implimentation of SDI. But that's me. |

::whines - but Star Wars is high science!::
I don't like it either. Spend the money on alternative energy research - or if it has to be spent on security, spend it on port or airline stuff.
