I'm thinking of starting a new game and I want to try using Jan and Haer Dalis' in the group, are they any good? And how will they react to Edwin,Viconia,or Keldorn?

I'm a great fan of Jan Jansen - best thief in the game (unless you're one) and a specialist mage. And he has some nice monologues/dialogues.

I'm not ass satisfied with Haer'Dalis - I think he just gets hurt to easy in close combat - his bardsong doesn't improve - and if is to be used from the distance (missile or magic) then there are better choices out there.

But you should try every NPC at least once to make up your own mind - there aren't that many of them to choose from.

Just my opinion, but I agree with AR. Jan is by far the most colorful and boisterous of all the NPC's in the game. His dialogue is a breath of fresh air as apposed to the constant conflict and mayhem. As I say, just my opinion, but it seems to me that Haer Dalis, was mainly placed in the game for his role in seducing Aerie if you have a romance with her so that a bizarre love triangle ensues. . I had senior Dalis, once and had to protect him far too much for my liking. . But, I am sure if he is played well that he can be an excellent addition. I am sure we have some Dalis fans who can share how good he can be. .

Haer'Dalis and Aerie start a relationship if you don't start one with Aerie at all.

IMO Jan is overall more useful..... he's also a really cool NPC... though I do like Haer'Dalis better as an NPC for some reason

haer´dalis can be a very worthy addition to your party if you take advantage of his ability to combine magic and steel.
give him pixie prick and kundane for considerable melee power, have stoneskin up all the time (support with mirror image before harder fights).

But his best use is when u Tensers Transformation him... he becomes a lean mean killing machine.... I find it so amazing that so many ppl who have used F/M's and bards dont use the TT tactic... It makes them SUPER powerful...
