Bahamut,
As far as I know it is possible for ANY character to have a familiar, but only using a great deal of cheese by exploiting a game loophole, as follows...

Pause the game.
Go into inventory, and empty all items, INCLUDING quick slot items, except one find familiar scroll and one useless potion (a small healing potion for example).
Select the potion and select 'drink potion' - you will hear the gulp sound.
Pick up the scroll and put it in the slot where the potion is - drop the potion on the floor (not in another inventory slot).
Go back to the game and unpause.
The graphic you see will will be the little twist of smoke as if you were drinking the potion - but the spell will be cast instead.

This works for other unusable items, I don't see why it shouldn't work for find familiar scrolls too, although I have never tried it personally.

Your alignment could have changed because of something you did in hell in SoA!
If you got any of the tears in the "Evil way" You become evil.

But it says that rangers can have pet familiars, meaning that it is official and all right? As for the alignment change, you mean getting the blackrazor and killing the Genie makes me Neutral Evil? Too extreme in my part.. but when I use Shadow keeper, it says I am chaotic good... what the hell???

I haven't actually tried it myself ! but I read somewhere that this could be done. The problem with Wizard Slayer is finding something you can use to 'trick' the game into reading the scroll. I think if you have TOB installed you should be able to use a healing potion as I suggest above.

Give it a try - the worst that can happen is you end up wasting a potion. And let us know if you get it to work - or not!

Only the protagonist gets a familiar (Main character), so far as I am aware. And only characters who can cast Mage spells. Where does it say Rangers can get a familiar? I cant see it in my Manual.

Wooohooo!
I just got my Fighter/Thief a nice Fairy Dragon familiar by using the method I posted above. It does work. You get a hit point bonus just as if you were a mage.

And yes, I know it's cheating. Just wanted to see if it worked.
