People want to nitpick because they have nothing better to do, well, that's my theory anyway.

And yes I realise I'm nitpicking the nitpickers of the nitpickers. And no, I don't have anything better to do

When I was 12 and coming back home from the beach my dad stopped by Hooters so myself and my great aunt needed to use the restroom. When I walked inside I only saw lovely women in "short" shorts and tight shirts serving their customers. After I taken care of buisness I was walking to the door when I saw one of the women doing a dance. A dance that all men (myself included ) watched. When I went outside along with my great aunt and she is a woman conservative about clothes, you can picture her rants.

Whorish, Slutty, Prostitute? Yes
What I thought back then. Until I found out a year later that the women do it so they pay for their college tutiton and all that.

And one more thing

Do you need to be 18 to dine there?

I'll toss in my two cents here. I've never been to a Hooters restaurant, but I see nothing wrong with it. Sure, the name has some connotations, but so what? As has been pointed out already, it's really not much different from any other restaurant. It's not an escort agency or strip bar, or anything like that. I'm sure any woman who has ever worked at a bar gets as many or more propositions. I would guess, Attalus, that your acquaintance who quit probably did so more because the MANAGER was propositioning her. You could expect and deal with propositions by customers (drunken or not), but for a manager to act like that is discomfiting and entirely unprofessional. When a woman (or man) is sexually harassed by her (or his) superior, it's time to quit.

I think those people who are worried/offended by the idea of their daughters working there have decided to value appearance over everything else. Styles of dress have nothing to do with prostitution, especially in this era. It seems like 95% of young women dress quite "immodestly", mimicking their movie/music idols. Does that mean that 95% of young women are whores or will grow up to be? NO. Does it mean they are lacking in morals? NO. Does it mean that women who work in similar outfits at Hooters are prostitutes and skanks? NO. NO. And NO.

And no I havent been to a titty bar in a bit over a year so its not like I own one. Though I really wish I did. Anyone have a few bucks to lend?

What IF a woman *is* "whorish"? What if she's a prostitute? Even that won't make me lose respect for her or vilify her. People are just waaaay too judgemental these days.

Well, considering that the girl I was seeing before I met Taryn was a dancer at a strip club, I don't see anything wrong with working at Hooters (though we haven't got one here in Sydney as far as I know). Or working at a strip club, for that matter. It's about the person, not what they do.

Ah, you're back.
But the difference is, as you know, my snotty little piranhafish, that I don't judge or condemn people because they have a certain characteristic (such as being judgemental or working at Hooters ) whereas the people I am talking about DO judge and condemn on such grounds. I did not judge, merely state a fact (that judging people you don't know is judgemental).
