Arrow On this Veterans Day...

... I salute those who have served, those who continue to serve, and those who have given all.

Thank you.

Toasted the USMC yesterday for their Birthday. Festivities @ Ft. Knox today. Poker night at the Legion tomorrow, and a dinner dance at the VFW Saturday.

No Mission Too Difficult, No Sacrifice Too Great, Duty First!

Ruck On!

It's Sunday, ALREADY?

Hear ye, hear ye, I propose a toast, I mean a motion (I am not swaying!) to separate the USMC birthday from the Veteran's Day weekend, now lets eat the toast.

Hear ye, hear ye, I propose a second motion, to move the poker night @ the Legion from the 2nd Friday in November to the 3rd.

Hear ye, hear ye, I propose a final toast, uurrp, motion to move the Fall dinner dance from the 2nd Saturday in November to back in sometime in September, but not the 11th.

Who moved the seltzer fizzing water and replaced it with Geritol?

I will not drink a 5th of Makers Mark with Gunny next year! (Seriously)
I will not tap and then seal the keg @ poker night next year! (I will NOT)
I will not drink a bottle of red wine with the roasted duck then dance the night away with my spousal unit next year. (A little wine would be ok with dancing right?)

We have just had Rememberence Day in Australia which makes us think of the fallen in all wars.
At this time my thoughts & concerns go out to our soldiers serving in places like Afganistan & Iraq. They are doing tasks that not all of us can do & maintain our sanity. Few of them will return as the same person that left their home country. Some of them will not return at all.

On a lighter note.
Felix, you have a year to recover before the next veterans day. In Australia we have a similar ANZAC Day on 25 April. I have marched since 1981 & now lead my division. I would not miss the service for anything, but I miss what happens afterwards due to it being my wifes birthday. It is your duty to:
1. Drink a 5th of Makers Mark with the Gunnery Sargeant.
2. Tap & seal the keg.
3. Finish that bottle of red with the Miss's at the dance.
