HELLO,
I'm new here so let me know if I break any rules of ettiquette. (this place needs a spll checker)Boy am I glad I found this place! I'm on my second time through BGII and after reading the posts here I am amazed at what I miised the first time through. One thing I keep seeing are referrences different types of strongholds. The last time I played was as a fighter so I was able to get Nalia's castle, this time however I am an Undead Slayer (or hunter or whatever it's called) so I couldn't do that. Damn! Is there a stronghold for this class? If so how do I get it. I don't know if this has anything to do with it but I don't have ToB yet or any mods installed.

Go to the Copper Coronet and talk to Firkraag (he's in the main area, up near the bar but not right next to it). He'll hire you to clear out his lands of monsters. Go to the Windspear Hills (the place he hires you to clear out) and do the quest there. It's a tough quest, but the big thing to remember while you are doing this quest is simple: DO NOT KILL FIRKRAAG!!! You will have the chance to do so; DO NOT TAKE IT! Let him live; you get a chance to do him in later. Hope that helps!

If this is your first time (or second) playing BG2, I suggest you go without mods for a while. Not only is the "all strongholds" mod buggy, but if it works right, you're going to be spending most of Chapter 3 being run ragged when ~7 runners and messengers tag-team you to go solve their stronghold's problems.
And if you're worried about etiquette, Dundee Slaytern wrote an FAQ and made it a sticky post at the top of the forum. Read that and follow up on the links inside, particularly the one called Volothamp's Comeuppance. Welcome to Ironworks.

Hehe well you have to space it out right. Im on day 350 (chapter 7) and just started bard stronghold. Here is what i did Chapter 2-3 Nalia's Keep (rest until this is over) Then do what you want i went to the underdark soon after this came back Ok well now you have soem spare time on your hands in this order i did the strongholds Cleric Druid Ranger Bard (just started) Make sure you finish the stronghold before you start another although the druid and ranger strongholds can easily be done at the same time.

Welcome to IW Boutte!
I hope you enjoy your stay here, and if you think you are breaking the rules (you mentioned this in your post), i suggest reading Dundee Slayterns Sticky note at the top of this bg 2 forum. It tels you about all that you need to know. As for strongholds, each class has a different stronghold. Dont worry, every class has one. We wont spoil too much for ya, so if you want to knw about each one just ask, and we will answer as soon as possible. Since this is just your second time thru the game, i wouldnt strongly suggest NOT downloading any mods yet.. as soon can be buggy and complicated. get a better feel for the game, then you can try some. On the topic, of strongholds, my favorite of all (maybe because im a sorcerer, and a elf at that ) is the Planar Sphere, the mage stronghold. i wont spoil it for ya, but its a lot of fun. I hope you enjoy it here at IW, and remember, dont listen to anything Gangrell tells you (just kidding ) Xero

Thanks guys.
I think I'll head over to Windspear after I clear that wierd cult out of the sewer. I ordered ToB today but those mods scare me. Maybe I'll try them the next go round.

What I do suggest, though, is that you get the official patch and the Baldurdash-fixpack right away. They aren't 3rd party mods, so it won't be any changes, except that you will have alot of bugs fixed. Check out Dundee's sticky post for links. Oh, and, Welcome to Ironworks! Consider this my official welcome to you, so that I don't have to post in Gen Con as well.
