I have a Sorcerer so my spells are limited but the ones i have are very potent. Personally I like to use Chain Contingency alot. Many differant combos. I uaually use 3 Abi Dalzim's Horrid Wilting. I also use combs like 2 Lower Resistances and Breach or something like that, ya know. It just depends if I am going to fight one guy or 20.

I like to use Spell sequencer with 3 Spider spawns in it. It's usually 5 summoned spiders. My favourite sequence of spells one after another is Abi-Dalzim's Horrid Wilting to clear out the way, then Protection from evil and Gate.

Ehhhh... ...

When I'm high-level enough, Greater Malison followed by Horrid Wilting.

If I'm fighting against non-undead Humanoids, Emotion after the Greater Malison.

I use Spell Sequencer for tough enemies, usually contains Flame Arrow, Polymorph and one other random attack spell.

I will always favour Chromatic Orb over Magic Missile, except during the phase when my Sorcerer is Lvl 10-12, because I do not like the petrify effect. In my opinion, anything that can kill a Mind Flayer in one hit, is a damn good spell and Chromatic Orb can do that.

I put Mirror Image and Blur for Minor Spell Sequencer.

I put Spell Shield, Spell Immunity and Protection from Magical Energy in my Spell Trigger.

I put Dispel Magic in my Contingency, condition when I am helpless.

Favourite spell though, is Finger of Death, followed by Chromatic Orb.

I have just been experimenting with spider spawn and monster summoning in my sequencer. Very useful as it fequently summon fives quite hard creatues and when used with simulacrum provides a lot of back up in a big fight.

I like Insect Swarm the best so far. From the time Jaheira could cast it until now, it has done the most for me. Many times it causes multiple enemies to run around in a panic, swatting at fire ants when they should be swinging at me. It is also fantastic at causing mages to blow a spell!

The highest level monsters I have used it on to great effect would be Umber Hulks and Vampires.

Now I am finally encountering bad guys that laugh it off on a regular basis, so the spell is waning in popularity.

Overall though, it has done the most for me for most of the game.

The second best would be summon Fire Elemental, I use two Fire Elementals as my premiere cannon fodder troops.

Mage:

Spell Triggar: Breach, Breach(just in case they had Spell Shield), Lower Resistance(I THINK this lowers wweapon res.?)

this will get rid of ALL their combat defences for SURE! Whack the old mage and it's dead in a round. Save for high level battles.

Cleric Mage:

Spell triggar: 3x Flame Strike OUCH!!!!
Spell Seq: 3x Holy Smite on your own good/neutral party when surrounded!

Chain Contingency: Stoneskin, Mislead, Heal

Actually I like to put invisibility in my contingency, always a winner in my book, especially versus mindflayers.
