Hi, I have just started the game. So far, I have no problem getting out of the 'dungeon'. However, when I am in the city, my computer keeps rebooting itself for no reason at all for every few minutes I spent in the city. I am not sure whether this is a bug or just my system. I have an Athlon 1.7GHz, 256MB ram, GeForce2 MX. I have downloaded the latest patch from BlackIsle but it doesnt solve the problem. Hope someone out there can help me with this. Thanks

Odd. I have an Athlon as well. Had exactly the same problem after I installed ToB. I uninstalled and then installed the game again but wait. Maybe some has another solution.

You could try increasing the size of the virtual memory allocation above the recommendation size. This has helped me with other programs that have rebooted the computer during gameplay, but then it may not be the cause of your problem.

Assume you don't have any problems running any other programs?
Moving into the city isn't a big graphics drain so seems a bit odd

What version of drivers do you have on your Geoforce?
4.13.01.2181
is what im running

Check your Geoforce 2 display settings for anything unusual or set low

Can't think of nothing else right now

Okay, I'm running on an Athalon 1.33 GHz with 256K RAM and a 64K Radeon card: no problems. It's possibly GeForce-related, but you should also consider whether you've got any programs running in the background that "time in" every few minutes. These might include a memory manager, screensaver, atomic clock adjuster, etc. Any of these might conflict when they activate, and boom--instant reboot.

I am using Windows XP, anyone successfully playing the game with that? My GeForce driver is 5.1.2001.0, which I think should be one of the latest, so that shouldnt be a problem. Anyway, thanks for all the advice.

Again, you're not telling us anything about what's running in the background before you start up BG2. Do a CTRL+ALT+DEL, copy down the executables you see, and pass 'em along.

Also, you do have the patch that deals with Year 2002 and XP issues from Bioware--right?
