IIRC it sucks up bandwith by view the image on their server without people actually visiting their site. Something people don't like too much. Or I could be way off base. Actually it could also just be about the principle of getting permission from the site's owner.

You can get the image from the site easily enough, but its the same one nanobyte linked.
