Cespenar (ToB) is immortal as well, but I don't know about Elminster though. I guess it would be pretty cool to kill him.. After all you eventually beat him in levels, so you should be able to at least hit him..

ADD: I remember a post in the Baldur's Gate forum, where someone said that Gorion had killed Sarevok in the introduction. Something that isn't supposed to happen, that actually did. Of course he couldn't continue that game.

Is cespenar immuum to Intelligence drain?... if not it is possible to take him down (why would you I ask myself but... ).. because in SoA noboby was immuum towards Intel. Drain (Mind Flyers/Illithids)

Just like... when people talk about killing Elminster.. this could be a option you could try (possibly already have tried it)

Because like the Uber-Beings in SoA (Arkanis, Melchor Harpell) they are 2 vunrable for Intel. Drain.

I have heard that Elminster uses a kind of modified Dimension Door when you attack him though when Time Stop is activated... he cannot use it... I pressume.

No doubt Elminster is immune to time-stop.

Nah, he's mortal but cos he's a chosen of Mystra he has protection from things and for him being in the story line, he doesn't meddle, only guides good alignmewnts to help the realm. Could be that the designers made him invincible so that you have hints thoughout the game. He's nearly been killed by Bane before in the book, Tantras, or was it Shadowdale?

Quote from an other post of mine in this thread:

''Spell immunities: magic missiles, ESP, fireball,Evards black tentacles, feeblemind, death spell, finger of death, power word blind, imprisonment
''

As you can see in the AD&D FR 'Heroes Lorebook' he is not Immune to Time-Stop..

But maybe BG II has other stats/rules determining Elminster (Probaly not but...)

I've actually killed him, in one of my past games. He doesn't wear a RoP+3, but he does wear a RoP+2 and an Amulet+1 at the same time, as well as a Ring of Regeneration--chalk me up for another Ring of Preservation+2, Cespenar!

No pointy hat, though. Edwin was really miffed about Elminster not dropping a pointy hat. No pipe, either, they could at least have given him the pipe.

I didn't even have to try Time Stop, E just stood there & let me do whatever I wanted to--but he wears Imoen's Belt, so it was Mind Flayer or nothing.

Annatar, about those stats......want to explain to me how a 29th level Mage with only 14 CON can have 96 hitpoints? By my calculations he should have a maximum of 9D4 + 20 = 56. Ah, well, I've seen characters who've been cheated a hell of a lot MORE than that.....

I remember this post being well...posted before (a long time ago). I believe Dundee posted that Elminster's stats were, stre-13, dex-18, cons-24 or 27, int-27, wis-18, char-17; I'm sure of everything except that constitution, I know for a fact that it was either 24 or 27.
I think he told us he had 500-some hits.

It's a bummer though that you really don't become uber-powerful like Elminster himself. You beat him in levels, but he could well be able to squash you, I guess. And Irenicus having Neverending Improved Alacrity is also something that somehow sounds unfair in comparison with what your character can do at level 40 (although you can do nifty things as well).
