Stuck in the Stout Mines

Howdy,

I'm stuck in the mines. I went down into the lower levels, got the pickexa, hammer, lever, several thousand (it seems) bombs, etc. Now I'm trying to get out, but when I get back up to the trolley room it's blocked with a grate. I've tried to pull the lever on my sie of the grate, bu the trolley is stuck a few feet on my side of the grate. I've tried just hopping on the cart (by clicking on it) ans sitting nthere for awhile for it to move on it's own. Kinda hoping it would work like it did to get past the grate the first time, but no luck.

Any ideas on how to open the grate from the side I'm on?

When you went down the first track, did you find a lever down there? There are two levers in the Stout Mines, one for each track, and they control which way the trolley will travel.

I'm also having the same problem and I have tried the lever which changes the tracks but that doesn't open the gate to get back into the room where the two carts were. I have tried everything I can think of to the pint where I have stopped playing out of sheer frustration... is it possible that it is a bug? Was the gate just already open for everybody else?

Have you set a portal before you entered that area? If you did, just cast the teleport spell. If not, just keep exploring. Eventually, you'll find the cart again. Good luck and patience!

I'm actually at the cart so finding it isn't the problem, the problem is getting back into the trolley room where the two carts were originally. The cart is actually stuck on my side of the gate leading back into the trolley room and i can't get the gate to open. There is a lever which looks like it should control the trolley further down the track but when I pull it it donesn't do anything, the trolley stays up near the gate back to the trolley room and the gate stays closed.
I've explored everywhere, I've got the broken lever and found the room with the lever that changes the tracks but that doesn't open the gate... can anyone remember how to get back through the gate into the trolley room?

Now that I actually found the lever (I thought I already had it) I'm still unable to get the trolley down the loading platform. It's still stuck way up the track a couple feet from the grate.

I've "use" and "give" the Trolley Lever Handle (the part I had to find) on the Trolley Lever and all that happens is the lever move back an forth with my character saying Okay, but the trolley is still stuck a few feet from the grate.

Any idea what I'm (still) doing wrong?

I ran into that problem in my last game. For some reason, the first trolley stopped in the middle of its run from one station to the other.

I was unable to find a way back out, and I spent a fair time looking. I ended up having to restore a previous savegame.

Don't know if it might be possible for someone to hack you a trolley car on one of the stations, but it might not hurt to ask (every so politely, with a nice bottle of Brimloch Merlot in hand).

Otherwise, my advice is to restore from backup.
