It's german and it means 'the will to power' - kind of weird-sounding, but there ya go.

I believe that phrase is from the game Xenosaga: Der Wille zur Macht

As Arledrian said, it means "The Will to Power"

I have no idea why the the Japanese creators of the game wanted a German name

Yes it is German...and yes, it is the Will for Power...and the Japanese like the German language for some reason...in the Anime, Neon Genesis Evangelion, most of the company names are German. There is Nerv, German for nerve, Gehirn, German for brain, and Seele, German for soul.

Well, i've always heard the phrase "The will to Power" associated with the German Philosopher Nietsczche (or however you spell it) so I would assume that is why it is in German.

Yes, Nietsczhe thought it was a cool slogan - which is why, IIRC (not knowing Germand), "will to power" is one of the 260+ words he added to the language in his writings. Put simply, it is the wherewithall of society or a person to take an idea and make it so. It is the discipline one uses to become actualized. It's also one of those Nietsczhe philosophies that slotted so very well into the Nazi movement.
