I just started new game and created party that has Pixie wizard, Oomph wizard and Oomph priest + warriors and rogue but let's focus on spellcasters...

I've tried to find wizard who is able to learn quickly new spells.
I tried elf,pixie,Oomph and that funny pig-race...
Only Oomphs can learn quickly spells ( get several points to raise stone/sun magic skill..) Others have only one point to use on magic skills!?!?

I know that it's hard to find any suitable armors to Oomphs, but I might use 3 Oomph in my party, 2 wizard and 1 priest.

What kind of wizards/priests you have in your party?
What race are them and how do they progress?
I have this problem that allmost allways when character gains level, it get's only 1 point of health and 1-2 agility points....

Tell me what kind of spellcasters you use.

Well the skill points even out when you get further into the game. Oomphaz are great spell casters since they have the mana seed trait, doubled mana regeneration. I like elven spell casters since elves gain levels faster, that equals more spells faster. I also like pixies as priests, they´ve got teh dodge trait and make them hard to hit. That also come in handy if you change them to monks. Spell casters generally don´t get more than 1-4 hitpoints per level. Radek has a very good post about this somewhere (might be in the best tip thread). And 2 ability points is a bonus! But all this evens out. If you for insance change your wizard to barbarian, he/she will gain for instance 15 hitpoints per level the first level ups.

My party usually consists of 2 wizards, a priest, two warriors and a rogue. How my wizards develop? That varies but something like this wizard->bard->barbarian->samurai->ninja.. That covers all the spell books and gives them some fighting power and lots of hitpoints...

Olli,
1. Skill points: If I understand well, you are speaking about skill points. If it is so, then keep in mind that the number of skill points, which you get during level up, depends on your INT:
INT 1 - 4 : 1 skill point
INT 5 - 8 : 2 skill points
INT 9 - 12 : 3 skill points
INT 13 - 16 : 4 skill points
INT 17 - 20 : 5 skill points
INT 21 - 24 : 6 skill points
This table is valid for all classes. All classes can invest their skill points as they want. Perhaps, your Oomphaz had high INT (they usually did) and got more skill points than, for example a Guork (usually imbecile after character generation). This can be mended later in the game: invest in INT.
Note: After changing role, you will be given 1 skill points until your level in your new role becomes greater than the highest level attained in the old roles - no matter your INT is.

2. Leveling up, hit points: Whenever you level up, the game rerolls your HP from scratch. If the resulting number of HP is less or equal to your current HP, you get only 1 HP. Example:
Suppose your warrior is about to level up to level 5. The game will roll 5 times increase of HP for a warrior and summ all increases. It compares the result with your current number of HP. If the result is less or equal to your current number of HP, you get 1 HP. If the result is greater than your current number of HP, you get the difference between the result and your current number of HP so that the result becomes your new number of HP.
Therefore, ignore number of hitpoints you are getting. You cannot improve it. Well, you can wait for a "good roll" but - next time you get only 1 HP and lose all your effort.
Note: After changing roles, you will be given 1 HP until your level in your new role becomes higher than the highest level attained in the old roles.

3. Levelling up, ability points: AFAIK, you can get
a) 1 ability point - often
b) 2 ability points - not too often but enough often for waiting for a "good roll" during leveling up.
c) 3 ability points - very seldom. Do not wait for 3 ability points, it is futile.
I've never seen more than 3 ability points. I recommend waiting for 2 ability points.
Note: After changing roles, you will be getting no ability points or 1 ability point until your level in the new role becomes greater than the highest level attained in the old roles.

HI Olli!!!

As Willow mentioned, you'll find that everything evens out nicely as the game progresses. You don't really need to fret too much about your character development in W&W. It's very flexible, providing lots of options to fine tune your characters to whatever skills you decide they really must have.

General guideline is to not change the class of a magic user until they have learned all the high level spells that you really want them to have. Warriors and Rogues types you can change much earlier without any problems and many advantages. If you haven't already, check the BEST TIPS thread. There is lots of good advice in there on character development!

Keep us posted on how your game is going!

For my own games I chose Elven and human spell casters. No particular reason beyond that I liked them better than the other choices.

my party consisted of a human wizard, 2 warriors (1 human n 1 lizzord), 2 priests (1 pixie n 1 oomphaz) n a ratling rogue.........so naturally, i use human spellcasters MOST of the time
regarding Radek's post of the INT thingy, u only get the increase in the skill points when u REACED the required INT. therefor to get 3 skill points, u need 9 INT at least, 13 INT for 4 skill points and so on. (this is juz in case those of u who dun understand )
i think the best party would have to be 2 wizards, 1 rogue, 2 priests n 1 warrior, so u can keep on shooting spells from afar n haf the rogue n warrior to do melee attacks
hope these helps..........

Actually, the way the skill point thing works is to take your INT, divide it by 4, drop off the decimals, and that's what you get. For example:

INT SP
24 6
23 5
20 5
19 4
16 4
15 3
12 3
11 2
8 2

I'm not sure at seven if you only get one SP; I don't remember if you can make a character that stupid, so to speak.

As for Oomphaz armor, I've never had a real problem. They can wear any robes, so they can always have something on. Oomphaz war chain and war leather are random items, but I've always found them when I've had an elephant in the party. And by the end game, most of your protection can come from other items that are more easily found. Just 'cause you can't buy the armor in stores is no reason to leave our poor elephants out in the cold...

For me, a starting party involves a brace of warriors, priests, and wizards, if so inclined. There's no need for a rogue, since you can do locks as a bararian; convert one of the warriors to barbarian ASAP, and away you go. I haven't noticed a tremendous difference between races, so I can't say one or another makes a better spellcaster or fighter. All I know is that by the end game, for the most part any character can take on CET one on one.

Errrmmmmm.... howzabout a new rule? You make a mistake in a post, you buy a round at the Boogre Bar.

I'd better get over there to set up a tab... this could cost me.

That lightened me much!
Think I'm going to fall in love to my lizard warrior named Lizz, well
yes she is famale and soon she'll be ninja ( 2 wil to go! )

It's hard to keep my Pixie (wizard) alive, and I have gnome in my party who does rogue's job ( low HP too... )

But yes, when they get some experience, they do have more skill points!
Huh! I was affraid that they don't ever grow big and strong...

Radek: My gnome had 4 ability points two times! But HP:s are low.
Now his INT is 12 and he get's 2 Skill points. That's enoght for me.

I beat Scabban's servants outside Toad Village and now I entered into crypt, got that Ring of Saint's and entered into Warriors path and saved game.
It's quite well done for one day, I played W&W about 3 hours today and now it's 0.10 o'clock at night and I must goto bed

Thank for advices to all, I think I get along with my new party and they find Mavin's Sword or what they are looking for... I look sweet dreams if I don't go to bed soon... Zzzzzz.... Zzzzzzz... Hups better post this allready
Zzzzzzz

Olli' if your having real Hp troble...
WARNING THIS IS A BUG AND WONT WORK FOR PEOPLE RUNNING THE PATCH so dont blame me if it doesnt work.
You need the vine spell toughen or lots of toughen potion...
...go out of a town(any town it dont matter)and cast toughen on your weakest charecter(every time you cast it they get an extra 10 HP for 10 mins) go into the town and they get to keep the HP(If you have the spell you can do it as many times as needed because you get all your mana back when you go in the town). No more running round the gael serran locking for monsters to kill so you can level up and get HP!!!
