Hello! With Valentine's Day approaching I was wondering how (or if) people from IW celebrate the day. Do you give or receive gifts? Take someone you love to dinner or spend time with loved ones? Got to a party? Stay home and watch tv with the cat and dog?

I found some background on the Holiday here History Chanel article on Valentine's Day

I am scared I don't have anything planned and very little money right now. There was a special for $9.99 for a dozen roses. Now the price has gone to $45. I will probably just send a mixed bunch of flowers to her work, buy some chocolate, and on Saturday order a romantic diner from Swiss Chalet, have some wine and candles. Not only is it valentines but the anniversary of our 1st date.

The wedding preparation as started right now I am looking at hotels to host the reception. Hotels, because most guest will be from out of town. I have a budget set yesterday we were browsing. We can buy a wedding invitation kit for a measily $60 and do our own invitation, and buy decorations at liquidation world for dirt cheep prices. I think I can budget $250 for decorations and invitations which will leave some room in the budget for the more important things.

Awww Pritchke, that's sweet! You remember the first date! Wow! [img]graemlins/ladyhearts.gif[/img]

Makes it easy to remember the anniversary if it's on Valentine's day.

If your ladylove is anything like most of us, it's not the cost or the elaborate things we love (not that those aren't appreciated too!) as much as the thought and romance of it all. She'll probably love whatever you do, just because you thought to do something for/with her!

My fiance wants to go out to dinner and spend some quality time together and that sounds pretty good to me.

Valentine's Day sucks. I hate it. I also hate rejection. I'm not getting anything for anyone because...
1. I don't like rejection
2. I can't pick stuff out very well
3. I'm flat broke.

Aww, now will your mom or aunts or friends reject a little show of your affection for them? I don't think so! I know most folks think of this as a holiday for couples but spread the love! LOL Do a nice thing for someone you love and call it a Valentine gift!

Well, sent my sexy Jenny a card already, (she got it the other day ) and I'm looking forward to recieving some candy (Skittles! USA Skittles! )and a card from her. Early next week it should arrive
Kinda sucks cause I was gonna send her some NZ Skittles (different to USA Skittles) but stoopid USA dudes think I might be sending some bioterrorism thingie so I need to sort out how to get around it

Definately be phoning her too and telling her how much I love her and other sappy shit like that

V-day? WTH is that? I don't think I have a romantic bone in my body - this may come as a surprise to the good people of IW
