I have a TB 1.2Ghz (OCed to 1450Mhz) and BG II runs great on it with no problems. I have found that its not so much the CPU as the RAM that makes and breaks the system. A high quality Motherboard is also very important. Buy yourself good RAM and if you get a VIA motherboard make sure you install the newest VIA 4in1 drivers and you should be good to go!

It is a via chipset on a soltek mb with the new ddr ram from crucial, I always thought that the game might have problems with the instructions from the cpu but bg2 does use alot of ram for all of those small processes. Thanks again

Yeah got myself a TB 1,3 mgz and I run with Win 2000 + Service Pack 2 It run pretty smootly until it started doing some 'program error'. Since then the bugs have occured more and more frequently until I am obliged to play on my brother's PC. I was wondering if it was because of win2000 or the chipset or something else ?

I run on an AMD 1.4ghz no problems at all. For that matter I haven't had any CPU related problems at all.

Random crashes on my Athlon/KT133A setup. Crucial ram, latest hardware/software patches and everything. Worked fine on my old Celeron with all the same hardware.

I would seriously look at buying a non-VIA chipset. And be sure that if you go with the AMD chipset, to not get one with the 686B southbridge. It's got serious issues. If you can wait a month, the nForce should be coming out. Reviews ought to be popping up soon.

I have an AMD Duron 800 and dont have any troubles at all. I think its mostly video card related as to how well the graphics and so forth actuall run. In 3D mode the textures and stuff look really cool on my nVidia tnt2 32 meg video card.

I used to play it on a 400 Celeron and it was ok but nothing super special. No 3D though. Search paths was limited to 32,000. On the Duron 800 ive got 400,000 search paths Now its more fun to play than it ever was on the 400. Also i htink how much ram you have has a lot to do with it. I went from 32 meg to 96 meg and it drasticly reduced load times for areas. Now on the 800 I have 128 meg of ram and the load times are very short .COOL
