You try to pickpocket the guy in the waukeen promenade the one with the cool ring. This is the one reason I like to play thiefs all the stuff you get to borrow.

the reason i'm asking is that the first time i played i pick pocketed Aerie's dad
i failed
after that a romance with aerie seemed kind of unlikely - given she kept trying to knife me.

My friend Shane has an assasin and an inventory full of potions of master thievery. For him crime *does* pay. Here's a tip, before you try to pick pocket someone save your game. If you get away fine, if you get caught load the game and keep trying until you get what you want. I hope you have an old save Gedd. I don't think even Shadow Keeper can help you.
