Hmm it sounds to me like it wasn't a case of stupidity LadyBlue, just a case of bad luck. All the firecrackers I've had (we call 'em bangers here ) have at least a 3 or 4 second fuse. The "stupidest" (although it wasn't really stupid as there wasn't much I could do) firework moment for me was when I was about 15, me and a mate had a load of mini-rockets. The type that go whizz then bang. You're supposed to stick the launcher in the ground, put the rocket in, light it and then step back like 10 metres or something ridiculous. No, no, no. Instead we were launching them from our hands by holding the launcher. However one rocket got stuck in the launcher after I'd lit it. So I was holding it and didn't know what to do. I was about to just throw it away, but this was in the middle of a back-street and a lady with a baby was coming so I didn't want to endanger the baby so I just held on to it, turned away and let it explode in my hand. Wasn't too bad, just took the top layer of skin off and stung for a bit. Firework danger is overrated

I once made a real nice fire. It was one with four or five small candles bunched together on a plate, all melting and mixing, becoming one big happy puddle of burning liquid wax.

I got tired of it and decided to put it out.

With water.

In the kitchen.

WHOOOSH

The scorch marks almost reached the ceiling.
Luckily no-one was hurt and no part of the kitchen caught fire.

I once fell down 2,5 - 3 metres straight down. I wanted to glide down a pole, but forgot to grab it properly. D'oh!
Again, no injuries.

I also jumped of a riding car once (that's to say, it's trailer) straight into the gravel lying beside the road. Ouchy. That hurt a LOT. But there were no serious injuries.

In fact I only visited the hospital once. And that was for a strange infection in my bone marrow. So, I may do some slightly stupid thing, but I do manage to stay relatively unscathed.

[Edit]Oh, right. Fireworks.
Two cousins and I were gonna celebrate new year with a lot of fireworks. But we were young and not really rich, so we bought lots of small rockets and other stuff. Big mistake. Those rockets were very difficult to light, so we got quite annoyed with them. We threw them in a cardboard box, poured some flammable liquid over it and set it afire.

It was a barrage of rockets going EVERYWHERE. Including our direction. *ducks*
I'm still glad we decided to do it in the middle of a pasture and not near our house.

btw: LadyBlue, I would rate you 'not higher than a 4 on the stupid scale. You would score a lot better on the 'unlucky' scale with your stunt, but not on the stupid scale.

I hope your injuries will heal quickly.

Ouch... sounds fun LB. Hey, has anyone noticed all the unregistered replies here? Any clue why this has occurred?

Notthe brightest thing in the world to do, playing with fireworks in San Diego, while the largest wildfire in state history is raging. Tends to get the authorities skivvies in a wad. I used to live there (Santee, actually) and did almost the same, so I know!! Didn't try to blow off my hand then, I waited till I moved to Missouri to do that. Fingers sting and tingle for a long time after, don't they?

Actually, if you read closely, you'll see on page one I use the excuse of being only 16....well, I'm 18 now, and my thumb is just fine, lol

Er, can't remember who asked about the unregistered members, but a couple of them were banned awhile back. I dunno about the others.

One Fourth of July many years ago were setting off bottle rockets. I had bunch of them in my hand when I lit one of the ones in a bottle. It flew right into the ones in my hand and them off, I threw them down but then there were bottle rockets flying around all over the place and I was running around trying to get away from them. It must have been a funny sight because my sister and Mother were laughing so they fell down. Just when I thought I was in the clear a stray rocket hit me in the ass setting of another bunch that were in my back pocket. Now even I'm laughing even though my ass is on fire and I'm running around like a chicken with his chopped off. Finally I sat in puddle which caused a puff of steam to rise up and got everybody laughing even harder. My brother in law laughed so hard he actully wet his pants.

The moral of the story is- if want to get a laugh , Set your ass on fire!

Try doing this with people you trust:

IsocketIIguy with wet fingersI

Basically, you need at least 10 people. Put them in a line starting at an eletrical socket. Hold your arms together. ALL OF YOU HOLD YOUR ARMS TOGETHER!
The last guy grits his teeth. The guy closest to the socket wets his fingers and inserts them into the socket. The last guy finds out why he is holding his teeth together, being zapped a bit.
Don't do it alone.
