Weeelll... When I was younger mummy used to take me n' my brother out to Blockbuster every Friday to rent a video game to play over the weekend. (All a ploy to keep us out of her hair, you see.) And I wanted something different, so I picked up "The Legend Of Zelda: Ocarina Of Time". Ahhhhhh... I rented that game so many times I could have bought it twice over. (I did buy it in the end, beat it 6 times over, STILL play it on occasion.)
That's what got me into sword-wielding fantasy fun. Then one day dad came home with Icewind Dale. I watched him play it and I was just "Wowwww..." Needless to say he created a monster... My mum's been the outcast of the family ever since. She was never inclined to learn what we meant when we started comparing experiences with bodaks and death slaads. I started playing third edition P&P last year with my dad, brother, and uncle. We don't have a steady campaign schedule anymore, but I know how to play and I buy more books whenever I can steal the money. [ 01-23-2003, 08:18 PM: Message edited by: Killing Spree ]

My older brother discovered it in the early 80s, and passed on the joy.

My first exposure to D&D was when I was around 10. An aunt had given my younger brother (who was 9) a book of D&D monsters, listing abilities, HP, etc. He and I created our own dungeons, and took turns with one being the DM and the other the player. My parents must have loved us getting that book since it gave them hours of us being not only quiet, but using our imagination, and more importantly, not doing the typical sibling fighting.

I had little experience of any computer game and none of D&D until 1997. Then during long periods of illness my nephew gave me some computer games to play. They included a few M&M games, Settlers etc. Very quickly I became seiously infected.!!!
Three years later I had to retire on health grounds, the strain of creeping through dungeons in fear of demons and other monsters??? Now I can play nearly every day, very often all of the day Life is so hard, sigh. Dandad
