IMO Italy deserved to win as there was no other team that displayed a quality of football anything close to the italians.
Thanks. My opinion too.

I've been supporting Italy since I was 6, that's sixteen years ago. After the Italy '90 World Cup me and my brother picked teams to support (we were kids then). Since he was elder he picked first place Germany. And since both of us hated Argentina (because of Maradona) I picked third place Italy. It was only because they took third place (had England won that time I'd be supporting them ) but I haven't regretted the decision since. And I haven't changed the team ever (I'm one of those who'd change teams extremely rarely), supporting Italy through thick and thin, even against my national squads (sic).

And I'm sure Italy did deserve the cup.

OK, maybe my opinion is biased by the fact that I'm supporting them, but honestly even you are not being obejective and are biased againt them because of the Australia match. For example, I think if the penalty in the final match happened for Italy you would be saying that's diving.

Don't tell me they achieved what they did only by cheating/diving. They played some excellent games (against Germans being their best performance). It's easy to blame the Australian loss for diving, but come on you failed to score against a 10-man team. Italy held their ground pretty well there.

http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/2006_FI..._controversies has some World Cup contraversies. Italy is mentioned only once (the Australian game). And personally I think while the level of refereeing was not the best it was definately better than last World Cup (though again that could be my bias).

I admit this was not the best World Cup for Italy, and I admit some teams showed better games (Argentine). But in the end it's winning and scoring that matters. Italy managed not to let France score and did extremely well in penalties. They deserved the Cup. Overall their performance was great. They had excellent team play (10 scorers), a great defence, and Buffon did an outstanding job.

I'm happy they won. Congrats Italy! Only problem all of a sudden we'll be seeing here (as in real life, I don't mean IW) lot's of fair weather Italy fans all of a sudden . People who'll ditch her next time she loses. Not like us who've been supporting her from the beginning .

Zidane win FIFA Golden ball award?

Most entertaining team is Portugal?

I wonder how these people cast their polls.
