Larry hehehe I have been to a couple, I can assure you that there are quite a number of ..umm less than pleasing looking people there, there are also quite a number of beautiful people there too. Heck several sororities used to show up on occasion to play Volley Ball at Blacks Beach in La Jolla CA. [img]smile.gif[/img]

As for being there to show off...well I went the first time to see what all the hubub was about..later in the day I realized how liberating it was to lie naked in the sun and to be able to swim in the ocean without the clothing..it was a ..freedom thing. The only down side was that the womens volley ball team beat them men 10 our of 10 games...seems guys had a harder time concentrating

Don't condemn me because of my post. It was asked in the title to list pros and cons that we felt. I did so.

BUT

I found the above clipped *highly* offensive, though! "Any decent....that has grown up right would never go near such a place" ?!?! I take severe umbrage at that remark as it appears to portray a highly prejudicial and judgmental bias. I happen to be a decent person who *was* brought up 'right'--I do not go about publically flaunting my nude body in a perverse manner for any sinister reason or otherwise! I simply enjoy feeling the water on my bare skin! (and there aren't many spots one can do this anyhow short of a cow pond--::shudder::--or one of the coasts) I understand if your religious beliefs preclude public nudity, but to say that all others who do not follow your way of thought are not decent or upstanding people............

People can go skinny dipping privately. I used to in my own backyard swimming pool...at night, and nobody else was around.

Ok...it seems that my thoughts on nude beaches has given everybody a bait. Since Sazerac posted his warning about offensiveness...it seems that a tank of sharks has been bred and released, and everybody is out to kill.
I apologize to anybody who actually does go to Nude beaches, as I did not think that anybody here actually did! Maybe I should have waited longer, and seen other people's posts, and determined other views before I posted. That would have kept you blood-seekers away

Umm I made the post and wanted to hear the cons....I did respond to your comment but not in a bad way...at least I didnt think it was bad..thanks for your views LArry YOu know I like your posts, even if we don't always agree...we do a lot though. The Nude beaches are not a pornographic thing for me..(ok Ive only been to three on 4 seperate occasions) but just a nice relaxed atmosphere...entire families are there sharing the sun and fun with no inhibitions...but I also know I wouldnt let my lil girl go to one alone or just with her friends (not that she is old enough to go anywhere alone yet)

I really do want both the pro's and cons here. I owuld like ot say that some of what Larry said is true, I saw my share of ummm lechers and there was a fair contingent of gays and lesbians present...not to mention the fact that the Police traffic helicopter was giving rides to various city officials who had high power field binoculars and just flew up and down the coast...hovering for occasional picture taking and "fact finding" The hypocrites really ticked me off. The beach had a no photography policy and so these jerkoffs had the police fly them in so they could snap pics from 10 feet off the water.

I think many people may be offended by the word "fag". Ziroc didn't make this site so we could criticize others or express prejudice remarks. Those need to be kept to ourselves.

And yes, being a mod, I would expect to watch myself more closely and to be an example to others.

Garnet - I too have some small hangups about my body, as I used to weigh close to 300 pounds (185 now). People always ask me "do you have stretch marks?". Well, the answer is YES, and then some. So, I am somewhat uncomfortable about taking my shirt off at times, however once when I was in Hawaii I took notice that most people there walked around with less clothes on (humidity I would imagine). Most of the time I was there I walked around in just shorts, and no one looked at me weird or judged me. It was a really wonderful experience, and some of the women I was with had done the same at times, and hardly anyone noticed. No one said "hide your bodies girls, or Satan will steal your soul!". Of course, this was the land where women used to dance partially naked until the missionaries made them wear more clothes. Repression tried and true.

I can't help but share a story while I'm on this thread. Once when I was college (about 1993) the town I lived in announced a feminist movement in support of allowing women to walk around bare chested. So, a group of horny college guys I knew had heard of this "bare your breasts" day and went eager to see "naked chics".

All of the guys were dissapointed, since what they saw were mothers, grandmothers and women of many ages and walks of life. For some reason they thought there would be a parade of skinny little swimsuit models with thin waists and perfect double D breasts. I actually was laughing the whole time, not at the women but at my friends for being so stupid. I thought the women were brave though. [img]smile.gif[/img]

I have never been to a full on nude beach, and honestly I probably wouldn't want to go to one. But I've been to many beaches (I grew up on the CA coast) where I've seen people take their clothes off. No big deal to me.

I mean, if someone really wanted to see naked people, I think they'd go to a stripper/chip and dale bar, right?
