1. Half-life/counterstrike (sientifict term for a life span... of materials that last long/forever. And Half-life is a half-life material, it lasts forever.)
2. Myth 1/2 (great modability, fun, worldwar 2 TC's are awesome.)
3. Black & white (weird, theirs no mention of it. Its got great replayability, good internet code, but my pet does weird things.. like throw children and women into the air and blast them with lightning or fireballs. Great A.I.
4. Baldurs gate series (Great replay value, good for people to start with dnd, good npc's, fun.)
5. U-T.

I hear that UFO Defense is the best, but I've only played Terror of the Deep, Apocolypse, Interceptor and Enforcer. All of the graphics suck except in Enforcer, all the sound sucked period, but the story and gameplay were good. Except in Enforcer and Interceptor.

5] Starcraft

Honourable mentions, BG series, Fallout series, Diablo2, Europa Universalis, AOE2, MOO, MOO2, Darksun Wake of the Ravager, Doom, Fifa soccer series.

On the subject of MOM, I was reading about the MOO3 game here in september. Apparently, if MOO3 is successful, they'll consider releasing an updated version of MOM. Also, where are all the great games gone?
BG series gets an honerable mention

Hey you asked my top 5

Anyway, I also forgot to mention one of my fave games of all time, I dunno if you remember it, centurion, all about roman legions and taking over the known world (brilliant). For all those who fancy a touch of the oldies, most of these games can be downloaded at the following location...

also, yes I remember X-com, terror from the deep. It never got the credit it deserved, remember the way your men died, screaming and falling down, class. I real hated that floating brain that killed my men and then turned them into another floating brain.... uurrrggghhhh...

In the foul darkness one figure will emerge to save the world from evil and despair.... Light flashes as his sword comes down, and thunder rolls through the sky when he points his sword up to heaven to signal his victory....People whisper his name as he walks by, evil tries to hide as they sense his presence nearby.... His name?
