Ehphedrine is used commonly. Pseudo-ephedrine is the active ingredient in most orally administered OTC cold decongestants. (i.e. Sudaphed)
Like ALL STIMULANTS, when taken in excessive doses or combined with other stimulating drugs, it can be dangerous. A certain select group of idiots acting stupid are taking yet another valuable drug off the shelf. Does anyone remember when kids would chug NyQuil to "get high"? It's the same principle here, only more widespread.
