Brain Gym - not necessarily the way forward. I'd add to this but I feel Charlie covered it more than adequately.

And whilst, here in the UK, we're trying to fail our kids so succesfully:

The idea was to give 3m pills to 2,000 children over eight months and see if their GCSE results improved...but the trial was designed so that it couldn't possibly give useful information - not least because it had no placebo group - and was very likely to give a false positive result. meh, never even heard of brain gym. Brain gym does sound kinda lame, but yeah that guy sounds like a cocky prick. I know for a fact that I had a bad allergy that caused me to have a blocked/runny nose pretty much all the time from about age 13 to 20 then I found a homeopathic remedy that decreased its effects majorly, so much for his "knowledgable stance" on homeopathic remedies.

to be fair, this brain gym kinda stuff is at one end of a spectrum. The other end (so I've read) is in countries like korea, where they focus very much on the pure nitty gritty of maths and do a lot of learning by rote, which means they all know their stuff well, but it doesn't teach creativity. This brain gym kinda stuff I guess is going too far in the other direction
