To the Palisade! Something I've always wondered...
Does anything you do at the palisade have any effect whatsoever on the coming battle, other than empowering your party via experience?
I mean, does teaching those spearmen about Attacks of Opportunity actually do anything for them? Like, a +1 bonus to defense or something? Does the Bless spell stay with the other recruits? Do less goblins show up the more you help the soldiers? I really doubt it has any effect on the battle, but just wanted to make sure.

No nothing. Those spearmen are suppose to die in the goblin attack. If suppose you manage to kill the goblins before the goblins kill them. They will talk like they are still under attack from the goblins.
The only difference is if you didn't kill Phaen in the little hut. He'll appear during the goblin attack. |

Also the rest of the band from the inn will help out if you don't kill them.
