The starting attributes are definitely random, and there can be a vast difference between starting amounts. If you add up all the stats, most characters come in at under 70, but it's possible to have a starting total of 82 and maybe more.
Keep in mind that in order to get a new "roll" for character attributes, you have to back out all the way to the "create character" button, just choosing a new class or race won't change the total. |

Hi hi.
The manual says the chars stats (str, int etc) are randomized so that some char can be better than others. Is this true? I tried to make some different human warriors for example, and everyone ended up with the exact same stats. Are they really rolled or are they set for every given race/sex/class combination? |

I think they are pretty random. I usually end up rolling a character about 20-30 times before I finally keep one that I am happy with. If it helps, make 5-6 of the same kind of character and then put them into a party and compare stats. You see a difference. Delete the ones you don't want. You can even keep their gold if you want.

Aha, thanks a lot. Perhaps that helps explain why my chars suck so badly - I stuck with the roll I got from the start.
