(?) I'm not sure where you're going with that comment. All the spells I listed are mage spells, for which the opposition school does matter. They are also spells which have some decent use for a low level mage, even late in the game or in HoF.

Mage Armor and Shield pump up armor (Divine Shell increases deflection), Charm Person is occasionally useful, especially in HoF, Grease slows down enemies even if they make their save, and Mirror Image needs no explanation.

My point is that if you choose to be a specialist mage, the opposition school doesn't matter.

In IWD2, if you have a specialist mage with levels in any other casting class, you're (somehow) allowed to cast ALL mage spells, including those you're supposed to be banned from having.

Scrolls will still appear with a red tint to them, but you can memorize them.

BTW, you can NOT use spells as items though.

Ah, ok. I forgot about that, since I almost never take specialists.

FYI: I will take Strong Back as one of my feats for my lil' monk. I have Ease of Use installed for the item stacking, and 40 Potions of Extra Healing sure adds up!

Also: Aerich: I can't find the original discussion, but I tested this out. Male Drow can choose to be specialist Mages without incurring any multiclass penalties. Sweet!

Are you sure Ease-of-Use hasn't influenced those results?

Hmmm, I hadn't considered that ZFR. I'll have to test it out (or somebody else could, I won't be playing the game for a few days).

I don't think it has. I'm pretty sure I didn't have EoU installed at the time of the discussion. I think the discussion was on the other board.

As for the potions, why carry so many with a low Str character? There's no way you'll need that many at once. I usually have a high Str character as my carrier, and split off a dozen or so for a decoy-type. If I really get too many, I just sell a bunch.

I guess it's a combination of a few things:

1)Just laziness. My Monk is my first character, so she picks up the most stuff.

2)Lack of a high STR character. I have my Cleric with a 17 STR, but nothing beyond that.

I've actually just stuck about 30 Potions of Extra Healing into my Potion Bag.

As for the Drow favored class thing, you may be right Aerich about the discussion being on the other board. I don't think EoU would affect it though, I only installed parts like item stacking and bottomless containers. I just hate inventory management.
