I am just getting into playing a human mage and just got my pseudo dragon familiar and was wondering what you use your familiars for. I love the extra HPs you get from them, but for now I am keeping him in my backpack. What do you use yours for, if anything, and what are they really good for? Thanks!

Keep on bumping up my hitpoints through casting find familiar, export character, then import character to start new game.......keep doing this and you have lots of HPs.

But then again, there's the Shadowkeeper.

familiar can be a great scout. I have a fairy dragon and it can cast invisibility... then you can have him go ahead and scout and thief can follow behind (also invisible if you want... detecting traps?). also he is highly magical resistant (he is a dragon after all) and he can be attacked by magic with little or no damage... hope it helps...

You got a pseudo-dragon? All I got was a freaking super-ferret. What alignment were you?

As for usage, he hid in shadows and scouted. Unlike summonings, you can see around the familiar when they wander off
