Okay, as much as I love the unbearably unhealthy powergamy nature of my drow party, it has got somewhat tedious (An enemy? Magic missle! Another one? Magic missle! A lot of them? Magic missle!). Therefor, I will be splitting my time between that... and this.

Le rules:
No stat under + or - with race. An aasimir can't have less than 10 WIS, and a dwarf can have 6 CHA)
No 2 handers.
All members of party are good.
All members are single class.
There is NO race or class overlap.
No stats will be maxed for the race.
I will attempt to be as roleplaying as possible. In other words, no killing the druids outside Targos for xp

Le partay:

Aasimir Paladin of Helm (longswords)
STR 14
DEX 12
CON 16
INT 13
WIS 11
CHA 14

Drow Ranger (blatant Drizzt clone) (dualing longswords)
STR 12
DEX 18
CON 14
INT 14
WIS 14
CHA 12

Halfling Rogue (dualing short swords)
STR 14
DEX 18
CON 12
INT 16
WIS 10
CHA 8

Dwarven Cleric (axe)
STR 16
DEX 12
CON 18
INT 8
WIS 16
CHA 6

Elf Mage (daggers, maybe bows)
STR 8
DEX 14
CON 12
INT 17
WIS 13
CHA 12

Half-Elf Bard (staves)
STR 10
DEX 14
CON 14
INT 10
WIS 14
CHA 14

I have got LOADS of leveling to do for these guys to come within a reasonable competance level with my other parties, but they might just work. Also, here's a chance for me to explore the wonders of a single class ranger and a bard (yes, I know, how could I have never taken a bard? Don't look at me like that...

So, any suggestions from anyone? What armor do you see Drizzt wearing before the C of D? Are those good stats for a bard? And does it count as powergaming if I make the dwarf a morninglord, or must I take Tempus?

Oooh, I am so proud of you
You'll soon see the joys of having someone do something by their character, not by their XP comparison table
For now, I won't be giving any advice, just so you can see what a character really wants to do.
GL HF!

Thanks. I'll update this when I start it up, probably later today.

There are two ways of saying why I am inclined to play a roleplaying party. The first is normal, the second is my uber-nerd dark side.

1. I feel like it, dangit!
2. I am a roleplayer dual classed to powergamer, and after powergaming non-stop for so long I have finally regained my roleplayer abilities.

That physically hurt me to say. I guess that means I haven't fallen yet!

Note: No need to make a topic of this, but I realised yesterday after periodically referring to deep gnomes as "svirneblin" that it is spelled "svirfneblin"! How the heck are you supposed to pronounce that?

ROFL at the second! ROFLMAO!!!
Pronounciation of Svirfneblin? Multiple is Svirfnebli, pronounced Sierfnebln. IMHO.

Point1: You're characters have too many ability points. They can only spend 16 points.

Point2: class/race overlay or 2-handers isn't powergaming

@BoB: Thanks

@JrKASperov:
No, I'm pretty sure that they have the right amount. Remember the bonuses to the aasimir, drow, and others. Also, I am going for a unique party of differing characters, and I always found 2 handers to be WAY more powerful than a 1 hander or dual wielding, though dual wielding comes very close.

EDIT: actually, I really screwed up with the drow's stats. I'll have to change them around.
EDIT2: And the halfling :0

Have you ever tried playing a game where you didn't plan everything out before hitting the "new game" button? Part of the fun of roleplaying comes from the randomness. (As in, if Weimer ever cooked up a Wild Mage subclass for IWD2, I'd sell my soul to be a beta-tester for it.)

Another (major) part is improvisation. You mentioned that using the same surefire tactics over and over again got boring. Try walking into new areas without prebuffing--now that's a challenge! ^_^

Good luck with your new game.

Of all the time I've been playing BG/IWD, I never prebuffed.
