I'm just about to finish TotSC. Before I wrap it up, I have some questions about setting up my characters for BGII...

1) I've read that nothing from my inventory will be transferred to BG2. Is this true?

2) Will all memorized spells be transported?

Spells don't get transported either. You start with a blank spellbook.

You get to rechoose your spells before the game begins, but none of them are memorised when you start.

And all Thieves redistribute their skill points, too. There are now 6 categories: The old Find Traps, Open Locks, and Pick Pockets, and they added SET Traps. Stealth has been broken into Hide in Shadows and Move Silently, which I think is the way it is in pencil & paper D&D. You have to get 100% in BOTH of them if you want full Stealth, which I like, because in BGI, Stealth was just way too powerful; I can take out groups of bosses with just my Thief.

A Question:

Say you take a straight fighter from BG1, and import it. Do you gt to choose a kit? (Kensai, Berserker, etc.)

I'm pretty sure you can.....or everyone who imported a character whould get mad at not even being ALLOWED to choose.

What I want to know is, can Dual-Class guys choose a kit? I've got a great Tank that I want to Dual to a Thief soon, because the idea of my tank Finding Traps while in full armor is so appealing to me.....but a guy told me that, when you get BGII or ToB, it turns out that single-classing was really the way to go. And here I thought the idea of Dualing a Fighter into a Cleric was a really cool way to get Blunt+++ Missile+++ without losing too much Exp.

BG1 should be done with a straight class. Then import to BG2. You can choose a kit for your first class and then dual to whatever you want.

That way is better - you can earn more HP and proficiencies. For ToB is better to dual in the middle of BG2.
