Anyone here play it? I've started tonight, after having bought the game 6 months ago. It's good, but kinda slow when you're used to the Infinity Engine games. I'm finding out that I'm doing most of the missions with my main character - the others just stand around while my lead guy does his commando stuff.

Other than that, it's good. I hate searching corpses though - I never realized that it took so much time!

Is it similar to the BG trilogy Memnoch? I've heard they're all manufactured by the same company, so I've been wondering what it's like. Are things like interfaces/characters very much different?

I've heard it's more RTS than RPG.
In which case it should suit me down to the ground - if my PC ever decides to work again *sigh*...

It's by Interplay, but not by Bioware. Interfaces/engine etc are all different. This is a strategy game that can be played turn-based or continuous turn-based. Characters get to choose perks/traits to customize themselves, and they pick up skill points you can allocate to a number of skills. You can have a character specialize as a sniper and put most of your skill points into small-arms fire, while you can have another as a melee expert and specialize in unarmed combat and melee weapons (though why you would do that I wouldn't know, given that most opponents are armed with AK-47s and Uzis). You can also have someone specialize in auto repair, theft, lockpicking etc. It's pretty cool, I guess I'm finding it hard to work my team as a squad - my main guy always does a rambo on me.

I played it, a while ago though. Playing a thief is also very nice, you get experience and nice items . Ever played Fallout 2? I haven't, just watched my brother play it once. What I loved was that when he was travelling in the desert, he once came across "the bridge of death". Monty Python???

The Fallout games irritate me so. I ALWAYS have a problem with the barter screen. It simply doesn't show up. They always seem to come up with a patch to fix it, but the next game they release it's back. You'd think they'd remember to take previous bugs into account when making the new ones. I can't get the patch because its like 14-18 megs.! You need a CDR and a couple hours on a good net connection to get it! There's simply no excuse for needing patches of this size. It shows that they didn't do enough testing and wanted to get some money rolling in. The real time is not very good IMO. You can't pause the action to give commands and the AI leaves much to be desired. Much better to do turn based. This makes the combat last forever though.

Fallout Tactics was created by Micro Forte. They are the primary sponsers and recruiters of the AIE where I am doing a course on Computer Games Animation. Some people think the game good some do not. But as a Australian groups first real game it was a sucess in my terms. And you never know in a few years I may be working for them
