Anyone known any good fan sites for Wizardry 8? I am trying to compile as much info as I can onto my own website. (As it seems when games are no longer new and popular, the sites tend to vanish!) So I'd like to collect info from various sites and muster them onto my own (which I plan on maintaining). It doesn't even have to be just Wizardry 8 - any of the Wizardry games would do.

That's an excellent idea...making the wiz 8 website coz there is a shortage of them...I have a few suggestions ( I waz gonna make a wiz 8 site as well, but didn't have the time).
1) Do something on class building...class building in wiz 8 is quite complex, but there is not one good website on this...so ppl spend heaps of time charc. building and restarting coz they did something wrong...so if u were to make one, it would be the only class building website there is...www.geocities.com/jandrall has tips on class building, but a lot of it is wrong etc. 2) Try to do something on...monster drops (avenstars website has something on this, but his list is not complete). 3) there are some really good japanese websites with lots of info on monster stats etc....but my knowledge of japanese is limited...and u need a decoder to read them....also www.mindflay.com has great info. on items. That's all I can think of right now, cheers. |

AH! Very cool - anything you'd like to submit (for character building or general info!) would also be greatly appreciated!

Like I said...
www.geocities.com/jandrall aka. Jandralls website has some good stuff on charc. building but everything on it has not being updated for a long time. However, some of the things there are still good. In particular, the writer on those guides "Atlus Seven", advocates maxing speed for the majority of charcs. Now as the majority of ppl on this forum will tell you this is not a good idea, as power level 7 the haste spell adds a whopping +75 to spd, hence if u keep base spd for most charcs. this will push u over the 125 limit already. I know that haste dones't work under water, but think about it this way. Since most charcs have ~50 starting spd, if u max spd to 100 for 6 charcs. u would have used 50*6 = 300 attribute points. Now is 300 attribute points worth spending for just 1 area of the game ?! Anywayz, I think melee charcs are best built str/dex then senses/vit...towards the end game, after haste is cast...u'll have a melee charc with max str and dex...125 spd...and very high senses and vit...qutie a beast in combat. P.S. So get your webpage up first and I will sumbit and help where I can. I wish some of the regulars here can submit some articles as well... Also don't worry about doing walkthorughs...I have several extensive wlakthroughs that I will also submit later k |

Vaprakgruumsh:
If that is a freely hosted Geocities site, I would take the patch downloads off of there and just link them from Fileplanet. The problem with Geocities is that they only give you 2 megs of transfer an hour, and the latest patch is 3 megs. Your site will shut down temporarily everytime you exceed your alloted transfer. This is also true for having a single long page as your website. One long page requires more space than multiple small pages of the same information.

Pfaah, link to anywhere BUT Fileplanet. Nothing pisses me off like waiting 30 minutes for a single ******* portrait for BG2. And I have better things to spend my money on (like sleep aids to get away from Wiz 8.)
Sorry bout that, I just lose it when places like Fileplanet and Gamespot charge money to go places. I understand their need for $$$ but it really SUCKS.

Actually, they (the patches) will soon be hosted off my ISP alloted webspace. I threw them on the geocities one for now - because I have found older games, their patches tend to vanish off the net as ftp servers take them down when they're not being downloaded anymore. I just need to get off my lazy arse and set up the webspace for the patches.
