As if there were any contest at all !

Jean-Luc Picard of course ! Kirk is just a sad joke like the entire original series: if I want to see James Bond, regardless if in space or on earth, I'll take Sean Connery (Okay, Spock is a bit funny). DS9 and Voyager are respectable spin-offs, but just that and no real competition for STNG ! And the same holds true for the respective captains.

So long !

R³ - new, much improved signature under construction !

Hmmm... never been a Trekkie but have seen enough (I believe) to render an opinion here:

Tasha Yar from the 1st season of the Next Generation Series. If it's a fight you want won, regardless of cost, she has bigger balls of steel (please pardon the expression) than all the male captains combined. Not only a solid tactician, she is used to having the odds stacked way against her. Kind of fighter who would take a spear in the gut and pull herself up the shaft just to lock her hands around the throat of her killer. In a nasty fight, I want her with me because the only way I would die is if the enemy took her out.

Yeah! What Ramon said!

He forgot one important point tho... Picard is very attractive.

Of course Jean-Luc Picard. Kirk was always too busy sucking in his gut and hitting on green-skinned women.
