Please forgive my ignorance...
I don't know anything about Photoshop. I am wondering if there is any version of it (or something similar) available as a free download. I want to make skins for a game and they suggested Photoshop. I would prefer something free, though. Is there an older version available for free? Anything like it? Thanks

6.0 is a free download from Adobe, just go there website and check out downloads. this should do it. http://www.adobe.com/support/downloads/main.html

You can not find Photoshop free full version legally, period.
However you can usually make a bargain price for older version or if you haven´t worked with it muchthe "light" version has most of the things you need to work with it. The fancy thing is gone though. For skinning this might be a perfect option for you.

The full version is not available for download. I understand there are some trial versions out there, but usually you cannot save with them.
You might want to look at GIMP, which is totally free and is easily as powerful as Photoshop. (Warning: Needs XFree86)

Paint Shop Pro (www.jasc.com) has a 30 day trial and I typically use it more than photoshop (faster and easier to use for me)

Just realized, from the links I posted it might be hard to find the winblows port to xfree86 - look here Cygwin/XFree
