http://www.forbes.com/technology/200..._1201burn.html

<font color=skyblue>While US preachers try to have book burnings, Forbes also goes to the other side to quote people on how ignorant this practice is.

For my own part, the US burnings of these books is only embarrassing me as an American, and I wish I could apologize to Rowling in person for the silliness of it all, but from what I gather, the burned books are "purchases", so at least the proceeds are making her richer.

Quoting an attorney in Georgia that was representing the school district defending them and their decision to keep Potter books in school libraries despite one enraged mother's petitions at court, If Potter books were to go, that means that books like Cinderella and other Disney stories would be ripped from the hands of our children too.

That's rediculous, and I have to agree, it ambarresses me as an American as well.

Quite frankly, those who burn books are ignorant savages. On the topic of "Witchcraft" I of course have to bring up the Salem, though they weren't books, burnings. It was a hysteria brought by people having different religions, and puritans becoming jealous. Perhaps history is repeating itself, though in a way that isn't to cause such a huge morale outrage.

Just my opinion, odd as it is

Agreed. Just crazy. I also hate those that wake me up at 9am sometimes to peddle their religion.. I don't mind religion, but when you start trying to FORCE your beliefs on others, coming to their homes, that is wrong.

And it PISSES off 3rd shift workers to no end.

Counter-effective. I don't think they have a clue about how a book burning affects sales and popularity of a book. It's like saying "Hey, this book is totally RAD! Go buy it and see it for yourself!".

Well, I'm a Christian and I watch Harry Potter. Some Christians feel it is bad, but for some reason, Lord of the Rings is ok. Why? Cos he was buddies with CS Lewis?

Sad. The only good part about it is that at least the one pastor had read most of a book. To read and decide is one thing; I have tremendous pity for the lemmings and sheep that never read the books and only follow someone else's directions that they're bad and must be burned.

I've probably said this before, but before they burn Potter, they should burn another book that encourage fratricide, adultery, homicide, theft, and a multitude of other evil behaviors. At least, it encourages those behaviors in the same way that Potter books do.

Sad. Really, really sad.
