I was just in the BG 2 forum, and an interesting post came up asking what class each person played with first. What I want to know (if you can remember! ) is what was your first party like? Names, races, classes, personalities? Anything you like.

And it's your FIRST party. Not necessarily the one you first beat the game with.

Cheers,

Moiraine Sedai

My first party was very similar to the one I use now.

It consisted of three warriors. (One of which was a dwarf the other two were humans). One elf wizard. One human priest. And one human rogue. (I always play with a party of six).

I only had them change roles once, and that was before I found out how to achieve the three special roles. My wizard became a warlock. My rogue a bard, and my priest a monk. My first warrior became a paladin. It was not until the end of the game I had the remaining two characters changing roles.

My characters had names from my name list. (I keep a list of names that have a funny and ambiguous meaning (mostly in Danish)). But I cannot remember which names I gave them.

Its been a while!
I think it was a twosome, a female Elf spell-caster and a Lizzord male warrior. I dropped the spell-caster at the latter stages and just beat the £$%^& out of everything with my Level 90 something Assassin Lizzord. I especially like killing that tree thingy bloke who I find most irritating.

In truth I found the game much too easy playing on hard setting with small parties which is always my preffered method. You just get too many exp points and progress up the levels so fast that its crazy.

I next played a Solo Ratkin and that was tough at the start but again as soon as you get powerful you are unstoppable, and thats without charming and blessing stuff as I never could get the hang of it.

This time round I am gonna play solo as one of those pigs then stay Boogred.

First party... lessee...

Two warriors, a rogue, a cleric, and two wizards. One warrior was a Ghourk, and one... a Tiger-type, I think. Rogue was a rattkin, cleric an oomphaz, and an elven and pixie wizard.

Plenty powerful to beat the game, no matter what other people say about Oomphaz. I had plenty of armor, kicked butt, and took names...

Ascensions? All over the place. I remember the elven wizard became an assassin, largely because he didn't have good enough stats to become anything else, and the assassin's dagger didn't care about your stats. Everyone else had been through at least one promotion except for him...

Don't remember the names, although they're in a save game somewhere. Don't remember personalities, either; I don't think I put a whole lot of effort into that.

Question Mark

In my experience with this game, in order to get a challenge all the way through, one must play it with all 6 slots filled. This way the XP is divided out by 6, and levels come far and few between.

As a solo player, you are pushing level 10 by the time you have completed the crypt. Whereas with a full party you are well within finishing Ishad-Nha before they are reaching 10 lvl. Also when ascending, the harder the class, the higher the XP for level up. Barabrian is way low, whereas Monk and Ninja are pretty high.

Ratlins and Pixies are the biggest challenge,(Elf is the easiest) especially if you are starting as Wizard in order to have stone spell. They can usually get 4 offensive spells off, then "run away" But as posted before, they are 2nd level by the time you clear the set monsters at both gates for start game.

Challenge yourself. Play 3 Warrior, 1 ascension (no magic) 1 Rogue, 1 ascension (use for only useful transportation magic), 1 Priest, 1 ascension, and 1 Wizzard 1 ascension (Warlock). And run all the way to end game. Start with no cheats, no hand me downs, and no use of (Ranger = Fletchery), do it with what is available, and post us back. I tink you will have a different view on this game.

Well, my first party was little like this:

    [*]Whiskas warrior: Whius. paladin,ranger,samurai,ninja[*]Lizard warrior: Lizzard. barbarian,ninja,monk,samurai[*]Ratlin rogue: Ratli. nja,assassin[*]Oomphas wizard: Omphus. warlock,bard[*]Oomphas wizard: ( not remember name ). warlock,bard[*]Oomphas priest: ( not remember name ). paladin,monk
I didn't know what all those classes where about, so I trained my
    men allmost everything,
    So it wasn't odd to me to train wizard into monk....

    I never finished that game, reason was that I have to go into army during that time and year after that I uninstalled game and
    played it again next year...

    I usually keep my character names, when I conceive some name I usually just
    modify that litte bit... So names can be quite same in all games.

    Why I arrive at this party?
    well, two fighters, two wizards and there where priest and rogue to get into too... So if there would be more classes I don't know if I would take rogue into party... But that seemed to be good choise. to me...

    Then I played wizard team...

    I paste here one old email I got when I started to play W&W
    and asked help for party reforming...

My 1st party was a party of 5. I used only 5 in case the game came up with charactors that join the group for a while. Of course that didn't happen.
Human warrior
Whiskas warrior
elf wizard
Oomphaz priest
Ratling thief
All of my charactors changed occupations many times. The only one I didn't like was the Oomphaz, she tended to get stuck in places & had only limited armour picked up in the game.
This group got all the way to the end of the game but my pc was not strong enough & kept crashing on the final battle.
My next group was my solo Whiskas wizard which though it was difficult at the beginning of the game became very powerful very quickly. Almost a demi god.
I agree with felix that a larger group is more of a challenge by the end game.

the names i gave my 1st party were all adapted from Final Fantasy 10, it went like this:-
Tidus--->Human Wizard-Warlock-Ninja-restarted game...
Khimari--->Human Warrior-Paladin-Barbarian-"..."
Auron--->Lizzord Warrior-Paladin-Barbarian-"..."
Rikku---> Ratling Rouge-Bard-"..."
Wakka---> Pixie Priest-Monk-Warlock-"..."
Yuna--->Oomphaz Priest-Paladin-"..."
the "..." stand for "Restarted game" coz i didnt understand the role-changing stuff so i made a few grave mistakes....

Question Mark

Hey all intrepid adventurers in the W&W world...

I've only just started this game and so the question of my first party is a very valid and important one! I've read this thread with interest and aren't surprised to see that I've gone for a more 'defensive' party than most. I've only just started the Crypt so its early days yet and my party could well change! Here's what my gut instinct went with first:

Vastlaar - Dwarven Warrior (Possible Ascension - Barbarian? Paladin?)
Bavvok - Gourke Warrior (Possible Ascenension - Barbarian? not sure!)
Slithe - Ratling Rogue (Ninja or Assassin?)
Divina - Elven Priest (Possibly a Warlock in the making?)
Vigamortis - Human Wizard (Warlock as well...)
Sapling - Pixie Priest (not sure!)

I considered going for two wizards instead as quite a few others seemed to have, but I wanted to make the earlier parts of the game easier with more healing capabilities. I'm still very vague so far on the ascending potentials of my party though, so if anyone has any tips, fell free!

Cheers,
Cerebrodragon

My first party consisted of:
Aragorn, a Human Warrior --> Ranger --> Palidin
Lanfear, a female Human Spellcaster --> Valkyrie
and Mordin, a male Gnome Rogue --> Ninja --> Assassin

It eventually got to the point where everything was killed one second after it dared to challenge me..

If only this could be a online- multi-player game....
